November 1sts, every year the day passes by without making any wind around us. But this year it was really a different story. The famous story of ‘kerala piravi’ was well heard and by hearted by all of us. Natural beauty and geographical diversities of ‘God’s Own Land’ is being well acclaimed of by all around the world. But we , ‘malayalees’ never seem to be aware of these things. It is only during ‘onam ‘, and especially ‘ kerala piravi’ we seems to open our eyes to see things around and open our mouth to admire the beauty of the place we were born.
As it is, I thought this November 1st will be just the same as in previous years, a casual day. Nov 1st 2012, I could sense a difference, the moment I step inside the institute. I felt like I’m standing in a village area back in 1970s. it was such a wonderful sight ,all draped in traditional attires. All were very enthusiastic that they arranged some programs on a short notice.
Programs at Phoenix started with a presentation on various attractions of Kerala. We sung traditional ‘vanjippattu’ and some other songs, our old favourites. Presented some dance items too. Most interesting part was the Game show session. One among the game was a challenge to speak only in Malayalam. We enjoyed it well. Adding to the sweetness of the occasion, our faculties distributed Kerala sweets. With the national anthem the program came to an end.
The remembrance of this day will stay evergreen in everyone’s life. Later on when we turn the pages of life, this day will make us sit, lost in the hands of time. Thank you phoenix for a wonderful memory
